About Adesto

The Presence Layer for the Physical World.

Adesto was born from a simple observation: the digital tools we use to talk to each other have never been further removed from the physical places we actually inhabit. We spend our days in “digital spaces,” yet we live, work, and build community in physical ones - coffee shops, parks, libraries, and shared offices.

Adesto is the presence layer that reconnects the two.

We do not just show you where a place is; we show you who is there and who intends to be there. By allowing users to share “Presence Signals,” we make it easier to find your community in the wild, coordinate a serendipitous co-working session, or simply know that you will not be the only one at the park today.

Based in Chicago, we are building Adesto to make our cities feel smaller, our neighborhoods more connected, and our shared spaces more human.

Safety Tips

Your safety is our priority, but it starts with you. When using Adesto to meet or coordinate in physical spaces, keep these tips in mind:

Start in Public: Our initial rollout focuses on Chicago metropolitan area because public spaces are the safest places to build community.

Control Your Presence: You have full control over which Spaces you join and when your signal is visible. If you want to go “Incognito,” simply remove your signal.

Trust Your Gut: If a Space or an interaction feels off, leave the area and report the user or the Space via the in-app reporting tool.

Tell a Connection: If you are heading to a new Space to meet someone for the first time, let a connection know where you will be.
