Community Guidelines

The expectations that keep Adesto safe, respectful, and human.

To keep Adesto a helpful and safe tool for everyone, we ask that all members of our community (the “Adestos”) follow these core principles.

1. Respect Physical Boundaries

Adesto is a tool for coordination, not surveillance.

Consent is King: Just because someone has shared a “Presence Signal” at a coffee shop does not mean they are available for a long conversation. Respect the “headphone rule” and general social cues.

No Stalking or Harassment: Using Adesto to track, follow, or intentionally make another user feel uncomfortable in the physical world will result in an immediate and permanent ban.

2. Be a Good Guest

We coordinate around public and private “Spaces” (like your favorite local cafe).

Remember that you are a patron of those establishments.

Adesto does not grant you special status at these locations. Follow all local rules, buy a coffee if you are taking up a seat, and be kind to the staff.

3. Accuracy Matters

The utility of Adesto depends on the accuracy of its signals.

Do not “Ghost” Signal: Only set a presence signal if you actually intend to be at that location.

Space Creation: When creating a new Space, ensure the location and details are accurate to help others find it easily.

4. No Bad Vibes (Digital or Physical)

We have a zero-tolerance policy for:

  • Hate speech, discrimination, or intimidation.
  • Spamming Spaces with irrelevant content or commercial advertisements.
  • Uploading “misleading” signals to manipulate the perceived busyness of a location.
